Killeen Regional Airport hosted their 20th Anniversary on Friday 2 August 2024. Many former mayors and local business leaders that help create the Killeen Airport were present. Mayor Debbie Nash-King provided remarks as did the Col. Lakicia Stokes (Garrison Commander, Fort Cavazos), Chet Edwards (Former U.S. Congressman), Scott Cooper (Former Texas State Representative / Former Killeen Mayor). Jill Wyman (Central Texas Regional Director, U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s Office) presented a plaque to Mike Wilson (19-years – Executive Director of Aviation City of Killeen). Music was provided by the 1st Cavalry Division Band, Fort Cavazos.

Waterfall out at the Colorado Bend State Park, located just south of Bend, TX. If you are into nighttime photography, this is a almost excellent location to capture the Milky Way as the park is located in a light blue zone of the light pollution map. Overnight stay is $10.00 and $5.00 per person to enter.
Colorado Bend State Park. A view over the countryside while listening to the sounds of nature.
Colorado Bend State Park located in Central Texas. Many hiking trails with a few mountain bike trails (not all trails allow bikes). This video is of the countryside with the sounds of nature all around.

Several area car clubs got together to host a local car show. Below are a few examples.
Bugs (insects) are harder to capture in a. picture than originally thought.
A three quarter moon phase shot with a Canon EOS R5, 1.4 Extender on a Canon RF 100-500mm. F14, 1/40, ISO 125 on 5/19/2024 @ 0130-hours.
Only a subtle difference between the two. The above was shot with a Canon R5 with a Canon RF 100-500 mm with a 1.4 extender. The settings for this were F16, 1/30, ISO 100 on 5/19/2024 @ 0135-hours.
This started off as a very cloudy sun rise. After about 30 shots, the sun appeared that gave this rather nice sun beam. This was shot with a Canon EOS R6Mark II, a Canon RF 15-35 F2.8 L IS USM lens at 35mm. F10, 1/8, ISO 50 on 5/17/2024 @ 0649-hours. The F10 was used in an attempt to get all aspects of the shot into sharper focus.
This was a first attempting at capturing lightening. This was one of those last minute opportunities when going outside and encountering a storm moving into the area. A fast dash to the camera room, grabbing what was at hand and getting set up. The problem is, when one sees lightening, it is already too late to snap a picture – what settings should one use: ISO, Time, and F stop? This was a rather fast moving storm, so once I input the settings, every 3 count I would push the button. I did not use a 2 or 10 second timer, so there is camera shake. This is one of the bucket list photos I always wanted to capture. While this is not the best, it was a great learning opportunity for next time. Canon EOS R6Mark II, Canon RF 15-35 F2.8. Set at 35mm, F2.8, 1-second time, and ISO 50. 5/15/2024 @ 2319-hours
This was a very early attempt to capture water upon a leaf after a brief rainfall where I live in Killeen, Texas.

As a new photographer, I am using the Canon DPP 4 photo editing software – not sure of the incurred expense with Light Room (LR) and Photoshop early as I only jump started this business in April 2024 with the advent of the Solar Eclipse that occurred in Killeen, Texas on April 8, 2024. This is the before and after adjustments of all things – rocks – these are in my sitting area in my back yard.
So, this is one of the nearly first photos I took with the EOS R5 and really did not have the system set up. This was a good test photo to practice with the Canon DPP 4 photo program. In the end, I did print this out as an 8 x 10 on metallic paper that gives a very sound 3D effect when looked at with sun light.
